Scottsdale Vino – The Italian Wine Club hosts its next event on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 from 6-8 PM at Enotria Land of Wine, 101 and Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale. This month’s theme is “A Taste of Italy: Savoring Salami & Wine”.
Salami is so popular in Italy that there are Salami festivals and celebrations throughout the year. Many of Italy’s favorite regions conduct annual contests to determine the best salami makers. For $15/per person, Scottsdale Vino guests will enjoy samples of a selection of Old World salami, in conjunction with six tastes of Italian wines.
The wines for the June tasting, all selected from Vinifera Import’s Italian collection, include:
2006 Firriato Altavilla Del Cort Bianco - 100% Grillo, an extraordinary, varietal first brought to Sicily by the Phoenicians.
2005 Oddero Chardonnay Langhe (la‘hn geh) – 80% Chardonnay, 20% Riesling.
2005 Marramiero Montepulicano d’Abruzzo, Cru Inferi - 100% Montepulciano D’Abruzzo (mon tae pull chee AH noh da ah BROOT zo)
2006 Icardi Barbera d’Asti Tabarin – 100% Barbera (bar bear ah dahss tee).
2001 Pelissero Barbaresco (bahr bah RES co) Nubiola – 100% Nebbiolo (nehb bee OH loh).
2004 Fontalpino Do Ut Des – A blend of Sangiovese (san joe VAE sae), Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon.
A discount is offered for any wines ordered that evening from Enotria Land of Wine.
